How DANNY Changed my Wife

”name

Just a quick mini-blog to ask you all to go to Waterstones' site and tell the world how DANNY changed your life – which I'm sure it did.

They want fifty words out you on the subject, which is nothing, a mere sentence or two, but quite a challenge to pinpoint all those deep and profound history-shaping moments that DANNY gave you.

Here is the link How DANNY Changed My Life and I Found God.

As you can see, some poor sod from Wales, whose name actually is Timothy Arblaster (which sounds like a character out of Lord of the Rings), managed to have his life changed by… yes, you guessed it, Lord of the Rings. As if that wasn't bad enough, he met his "future wife" (run away, run away now!) on a website (you couldn't make this stuff up), thus saving him from a life of loneliness and solitary masturbation dressed as Gandalf.

Nothing – I repeat – NOTHING you could write could be sadder than this. So, please, go along and gush till your heart's content (if anyone could gush in fifty words). I dare you all to be more and more outrageous, claim outlandish excess, say it inspired you to give away your firstborn children, taught you fisting, prostate massage, or how to lead others to Satan. Of course, you could always just tell the truth.

Whatever DANNY did for you, or to you, please go tell it to the world on Waterstones.

Go on, you know you want to………

P.S. Closing date is the 14th of Feb, so go quickly.

Finally done my volume 2 review, just thought I'd check to make sure there are no obvious hints to events in book 1 or 2. Also if it doesn't read right or is too long (I think it's too long) tell me and I'll do something about it.

The New Testament

The second installment to the greatest story ever told, DANNY 2, The Revenant, has arrived. The finest written characters in literature are back, and they're as good as they ever have been.

As the characters (and readers) are still reeling from the events in book 1, each character has continued in their own private lives - some more surprisingly than others. However, much as they may think they have grown, when they come back together the spell is cast again.

Book 2 can be seen from two very different angles, hence the two covers, and both are completely accurate at the same time. Danny's return is like a fox rampaging through a house full of chickens. Danny finds his admirers again, along with some new ones, lures them in and enslaves them but, as always, he's setting them up for the kill. Even though they know they're playing with a huge ball of fire, they just can't resist Danny's own special brand of magic. It's the readers' job to work out what's actually going on - as it always is. We get the chance to play pyschological detective again.

However, at the same time, in book 2, Danny is walking the world with his guts hanging out while the vultures circle him, waiting to swoop when he falls. This may not sound appealing, but imagine the sexiest walking dead, with the most attractive vultures around, and the devouring is indeed a metaphor for what they'll do when they get their hands on him.

As in DANNY 1, we see personal strength of psychotic proportions, personal survival above all else, and the reader delves ever deeper into the characters' past, unveiling some new mysteries, appearing to conclude others and concreting some assumptions made in book 1.

When talking about the DANNY series, you can't help but be visceral - the book is too raw and honest to receive any less a reaction. The same terms come to mind: see, taste, smell, feel. No-one just reads DANNY, you live it, and book 2 is no different. When you open the book, you enter their world, your surroundings fade away. It's the ultimate in escapism. Engrossing isn't the word for it - there are no words for it. After reading the first book, the DANNY world is a necessity, so get yourself a ticket to the return of the greatest show in town. As for the big twist (actually the author described it best - the big shiny present), you'd better glue your socks on.

(Also I couldn't remember if that was the phrase you used for the surprise, if not tell me and I'll change it then post on amazon, thanks).).

Brilliant review, Jodie, thank you.

My Perfect Soundbite For Nicking will definitely be "Danny is walking the world with his guts hanging out while the vultures circle him, waiting to swoop when he falls."

Delicious and graphically accurate....... what an grotesque little DANNY junkie you are.

As to length - hell no, it's not too long and there's absolutely nothing needing changed.

Do you want me to give it a spit & polish on spelling and punctuation or do you want to just shove it out in the raw?

It has much more of your own voice if you leave it as is, the spit & polish just gives it a veneer of faux brilliance and keeps the pedants off your back - whatever you decide is just fine by me. I love it regardless.

Now go post it to hell and back.......

Yeah if you could punctuate it for me, grammar's not my strong point and I know it's sometimes hard to understand what I'm talking about without it. Then I'll post it out. Thanks

Jodie, polish-up done & dusted.

Changed very little, just a few dots & dashes.

Felt as if the last para wanted splitting and couldn't get it to work. You've written it as a run-on (your favourite style) and no matter where I tried to split it, it spoilt it, so I've left it alone in the unique Jodie stream-of-consciousness (you and James Joyce both).

The only thing I've changed is the use of "the world" in the last para. I felt this was supposed to be "their world"???? If I'm horribly wrong please forgive me and change it back. It makes sense both ways - their just seemed to fit your argument better.

There's nothing worse than unwanted tampering - feel free to chop anything back you like. (If you want it altered back on here just tell me.)

And I repeat..... GO NUTS AND POST LIKE HELL!!!
